The Company started in 1976 as Ian Rumney Information Services. With the aim of providing a total solution to the Tasmanian I.T. market, IRIS Computing Pty Ltd was formed in 1993. This solution was not to just provide computers, but a firm that could supply a central purchasing point for a mouse or desktop, ink cartridge or SAN solution, corporate furniture to audio visual equipment, and possess the skills base to install, use, or repair it.

The company is owned by four directors. There are 17 full time staff members and 2 part time members who are either in TAFE or University, studying some aspect of Computing.

The companies' primary focus is on the supply and installation of I.T. equipment with a focus on the Education and Corporate Small/Medium Business market. IRIS specialise in business that is usually less than 300 seats.

The company has been built upon service and it has developed a reputation that is unequalled for the delivery of this aspect State-wide.
